Home of Horse Meat Disco

The Eagle on Kennington Lane – for a time known as South Central – became one of Vauxhall’s most enduring and best-loved venues: an unpretentious, cruisy men’s bar a few doors from the RVT. It is best known as the birthplace and long-time home of Horse Meat Disco, the Sunday-night party that started here in 2003 and went on to become an international brand, exporting its warm, disco-soaked, come-as-you-are ethos to New York and beyond.

While the big arch clubs came and went, the Eagle kept its regulars and its Sunday ritual. It is still trading – proof that Vauxhall’s scene was never only about the superclubs.
