Barcode Vauxhall
The everyday heart of the village
Barcode operated on Albert Embankment from 1996 to 2015 – less a superclub than the everyday heart of the Vauxhall village: a bar and club where the local scene met before and between the big nights, and a sibling to the better-known Barcode in Soho. For nearly twenty years it was a dependable fixture, the sort of place that quietly holds a community together.
Its closure in 2015 was part of the wider attrition of the arches, as long leases ended and the river frontage was given over to redevelopment.
